I rediscovered an old watch of mine whilst clearing out my attic. It has a mirrored cover over the face. The cover is mirrored on both sides, and flips up to reveal the face of the watch. The watch hands rotate anti-clockwise, and to gauge the time you have to flip open the cover and view the reflection of the face in the mirror. It’s a nice watch. I’ve taken to wearing it again. The battery has long since given up the ghost and its juice. The watch hands don’t rotate anti-clockwise any more. It is even harder to tell the time than it used to be, given that you have to be looking at the reflection of the face at exactly 10:50 to stand a chance of getting it right.
It’s nice not knowing the time. It gives a sense of freedom. All we have is time and choice. I only have nine more days of work left. And lots of choice.
