Play hard, don’t work

Once Upon a Mattress was a fine production to be associated with.

It all seemed so gosh darned professional to a small country boy like me. Lights, cameras, dancers and spiffy costumes. And action. It was a pleasure to see people enjoying themselves doing something really impressive that they seemed to get a buzz from.

My favourite parts were seeing emeraldmyst belting out songs about being ‘SHY!’, watching the look on nobodobodon‘s face as he popped up behind the Jester, the Minstrel and Larkin, and being taught four different ways to stand on my head. Actually, there were tons of good parts. The Wizard’s collapse, the Queen and Dauntless when Fred arrives. It was all fine – even not closing the curtain properly, having to run around in the dark in an absurd black shirt – everything. It was all dandy. Knowing people in the audience. It’s been an unusual time in Austin since February.

The only thing that would have made me slightly happier would be if Beth didn’t look so stressed all the time.
