The Saab. The Silver Bullet. The strange car that has a special place in my history. Hours spent driving around Austin blasting ‘Ride of the Valkyrie’ and Aphex Twin’s ‘Girl/Boy’ out of the (electric) windows, sat on plush leather upholstery. Days of connecting gauges and pipes to diagnose turbo issues. Saab 900 16V TURBO, suckers. Oh yes.

Purchased in February for 475 USD, still looking as pretty as ever, but unlikely to regain road-legal status.

And yet it lives on. Not only in my heart, not just in memories of circumstances that it brought about. (hot dates, marriage, towing) But it lives in FuRnItUrE. You can ride on the Saab in my own home right now! Yes, you! Right now!

Check out the plush leather comfy chair in front of my laptop altar. Ignore the books about world domination in the backrgound, see the marvellous adjustable comfy chair. It hasn’t got the sub-woofer installed yet, but it sure is comfy. And this is only the beginning.

Long live the Saab.

In other news: I’m getting a black-eye.
