So my 1967 Black Cab has suicide doors in the back, which has two implications:
- I can open the rear passenger door from the driver’s compartment by reaching through the driver’s window.
- People shouldn’t get out while we’re moving.
I have never run off on a taxi-fare, let me just state that for the record, and I’m not advocating that in any way, shape or form. I would think you have to be pretty short sighted to get out of a moving vehicle whose doors would promptly hit you upon exit, possibly trapping you between the bottom of the door and the speeding tarmac, smearing your face along the road as the door scraped its way over the soft skin over your vertebrae.
Luckily, novice passengers can learn in wikipedia that a disadvantage of suicide doors is “If the user exits the vehicle while it is moving forward, the door will hit him or her upon exit.”
I found this while lost in google trying to find if there’s some kind of blinker relay for the indicators, and frustrated that Ford have made a vehicle with a cab called an FX4 too. Very annoying.
