Checks are so 325 BC

If you must still receive checks, pay them in with a phone.

The Daily Mirror, a reputable information source in the UK, states that checks (more accurately cheques) were invented in 325BC, and that any medium can be used to allow one person to promise to pay another – even a cow.

I hate checks. They are such an outdated idea.

I like receiving funds, I just hate having to physically move pieces of paper around – it’s a waste of time and resources. I hate having to manually duplicate data from one piece of written paper to another. I hate being taxi driver for a document.

I will even agree to pay a $4 funds transfer rather than having to wait for a check to be mailed to me, and then have to take it to a bank, even though I have banks within 1 mile of my home at Mueller. Drive-through banks, the very idea of which still tickles me. Why would I chose a bank that wants to pay people to sit in a cubicle doing the job of an ATM?

So now I no longer pay checks physically into my bank. I hope you will do the same, and checks can be a thing of the past. Please don’t support this antiquated form of money transfer.

Here’s a quick video of me paying a check into my bank account from the comfort of my own kitchen using the Chase iPhone application.
