Decathlon

The decathlon was awesome, so thanks for everyone who showed up and competed for fabulous prizes. And thanks to everyone who helped out, and made it all go.

We took a few snaps. Things that are forever stuck in my mind:

  • CaptainSodium‘s rendition of a song about 3 nails and crucifixion with accompanying spatula waving
  • Ellen’s burger
  • Fantastic bribes that shall remain secret
  • People dancing in our living room
  • People asking me stuff, as if I’d know the answer
  • Creative cheating
  • Rumours of clothing optional trig tests
  • vodka drinks with cherries
  • The trophies – all of them. Being flabberghasted upon seeing each one, and thinking how fantastic and creative their creators are
  • Limericks being read
  • Seeing people I really really like, and even getting chance to talk to them
  • The interpretive dancing – team Afghanistan’s mass dance, and the fence wearing team Omega’s table topic rendition
  • People being persuaded to run around the block with things on fire in broad daylight
  • The barbecue wars and mooneyman‘s quest for what amounted to spiced concrete to make his entries
  • Realizing that I don’t like real bratwurst
  • Weighing Chris in before and after drinking to see how much fluid he’d managed to stash in himself (3 pounds)
  • Cheating at late night boardgames
  • Mary’s mother giving a fantastic interpretive dance 1 out of 10
  • People realizing that they really could hula more than one hoop
  • nationelectric‘s winning score
  • Finding crockery oddly stacked in the bathroom
  • Being surrounded by good peoples, and my wonderful partner
  • Presents which were completely unexpected and greatfully received
