Transformus is a regional burn in North Carolina. The short bus team and the Chupa van both returned safely to Austin after a cross country dash to attend. Fun was had, injuries were sustained, stuff got burned.
MJ is in New York, and we just finished driving all night, so this entry is not as sun kissed as it might be.
Highlights:
- Having a pet Raz there to shout, “Bollocks!” with.
- Draw a Friend – taking over the spectator stand and introducing people to each other while Raz shouted out times as Mary sketched people “in two minutes or less”.
- Seeing Rodney relaxed and laughing his ass off
- Burn night missions – dance with an alien, kiss a basketball player, exchange all of your clothes with someone else
- Hanging out with Uncle Jonah for story-telling
- Mary resolving the “you can’t drive your van in here” issue with her tact, diplomacy, and ass kickery
- Finding a sweet camp site in an allegedly full 900 acre site, right next to the burn field
- Giving and receiving trophies for services to the road trip
- Randomly stopping at an art exhibition and Mary selling one of her works from the van ride
- The rope swing and all of its glory, and swimming in the lake
- Yelling at the burn
- Breastfeeding today from the back of a gator with a megaphone. Nuff said.
- Dancing with Raz, Mary and the too-perfect margarita
- Spending quality time with some great people that I knew but hadn’t camped with before
- Raz almost drinking himself gay (in his own words)
- Evacuating from the tent and finding a shady spot to snooze in each morning
- Being crazily in love with Mary and being with her
