What Oils Should I Use For My FX4 London Black Cab?

I figure this is an important question to answer as it’s the first thing that the guys at Kip Motor made sure I knew when I phoned them up sounding lost and confused. The wrong oil in your taxi’s brakes and clutch means swollen rubber and seized hydraulics. And not in a good “visit to the dominatrix” kind of way.

So, for the brakes and clutch, I need to get some Castrol GT LMA. For the engine, any old diesel oil will do, and plenty of it, which will hopefully be revealed by the Austin FX4 shop manual I ordered from eBay. The brand that Kip Motor use is Delo 15/40.

After today’s McYoga session, I checked my mood barometer and figured I could change a clutch out and just ordered one. It could be weeks before it gets here, so now it’s a race against soaring garage temperatures. Wish me luck. Or bring a spanner.
